Brand new spells and more!
Seventh public release
v1.10a
A massive update with a brand new playable character and a new set of spells to challenge, the Afterparty stage! This update also brings QoL changes to improve playability of scene 8-1 and to help visiblity in general. Also, 7-9 got nerfed. I've been working on this update for almost a year now, and I'm very happy to see it finally release!
>Lowered the opacity of graze particles
>3-8: Slightly changed the formatting of the spell comment ("Collapse of Animism" is now italicized instead of in quotes)
>The manual now mentions the Q key
>Changed Naudiz's credit in the manual to match the ones in other places
>Wakasagahime's spell background has been darkened
>3-7: Fixed a doubled-up period at the end of the spell hint
>Enter is now disabled while holding the right alt key (previously it was only disabled while holding the left alt key)
>Changed some loading stuff to prevent the game from unloading stuff that it shouldn't
>5-9: Fixed a typo in the spell comment
>7-4: Slight spell comment change
>Changed references to "the final scene" to "scene 8-1"
>Fixed an issue where the note particles weren't being loaded ahead of time like other assets
>The coloring effect on bullets when you graze them is now paler to aid visibility
>The player's hitbox snowflakes render over bullet shadows
>8-1: The power number is now more visible, the power meter has an outline, there is "POWER" and "SPELL" text next to those two meters, and the related UI has been adjusted to make sure it's all aligned; some render priority changes to improve visibility on the 7th boss phase; I think I fixed that glitch that made that sound play and caused bullets to randomly aim at the player. I don't know what caused it, but my best guess is that if you deleted the bouncy bubbles in her third pattern before they bounced, the task for it would never resolve, so once a new bullet got assigned to that same object ID, it would cause problems. Maybe. That was a super weird glitch and I have no clue what the heck was up with that. I hope I don't forget to remove the technical descriptions from the publicly released changelog. The sound effect for boss phase changes has been changed in order to avoid confusion (it previously matched the bomb sound)
>7-9: Major changes. There's a ring around the boss to show the safe area, the boss' angle is no longer random, the pattern is much shorter, there's less going on, and the pattern is overall much easier
>Naudiz is now credited for "shader help"
>4-1: Fixed an issue where the shot sound effect would stop playing before all of the triangles appeared, and an issue where the bullets immediately popped into existence with no delay
>7-6: Slightly updated comment
>Added a new playable character and 9 new spells, as well as 2 new achievements associated with them, unlocked after clearing 8-1 in the afterparty menu. When you first beat 8-1, you're returned to the main menu with the Afterparty option highlighted
